Dana,
Thank you for your letter concerning the upgrades to the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal. I agree that the Ferry Terminal is an integral part of our community and of extreme importance to the well being of our island. I have discussed our concern with David Moseley and he has agreed to set up a community meeting on Bainbridge to describe the changes envisioned for our terminal. He has indicated that the changes are primarily structural modifications to meet seismic requirements and some minor cosmetic changes including upgrading the bathrooms and windows. He stated the currently planned upgrades do not involve any functional changes to the operation of the terminal. He did however say, based on past input from our community, he has asked his staff to evaluate and consider upgrades to to the bicycle storage and he will be able to discuss the status of incorporating those potential changes into the upcoming contract at the community meeting. The community informational meeting will be scheduled within the next few weeks and once a date has been set, the city will give notice of the meeting.
Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention.
